Loon Mask
Wood, sinew, pigment
Nunivak Island 1982
Maker: Henry Shavings
Contemporary mask makers were told not to use cormorant feathers to
attach the appendages as they could not sell them due to the Migratory
Bird Treaty Act. Wooden dowels are used today instead, adding strength
to the masks but changing their nature.
